Reading
Reading: - Students will continue to work on writing long about their thoughts about reading. - Students will learn to revise their writing about reading to include evidence from the text. - As students respond to their reading, they will continue to work on summarizing the text to provide background information relevant to their ideas. REMINDER: Scholastic Book Orders Due this Friday Math - Students finished Unit 1 and are currently taking the pre-assessment for Unit 2: Fractions. There is a document with an overview of the unit below. - Students will also be creating paper fraction kits to help them solve problems during the unit. Directions for this are found below in case students would like to make one for use at home.
I am so glad that so many parents were able to join us today!
In Math students worked hard to create the longest paper chain possible from a single sheet of copy paper. They had to devise a plan with their partner(s) and develop their rationale. On Friday, students will continue with this work. They will run a forum during which they will share their chain and explain what they did and why. After, they will reflect on what worked during the process and what they might change for next time based on what they learned. In Reading, students visited the book fair and had time to independently read. The book fair is open until Friday morning. Students will be able to visit during XBlock, homeroom and after school to buy books. I hope to see many more parents Friday! Have a fabulous week! I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! We have a short 3-day week coming up and a lot packed into it!
